yomi

A little cat who loves being read to

Meet Yomi

The more your kid reads out loud, the happier Yomi gets. For kids 5 to 9 who are learning to read, or learning to love it.

How Yomi works?

Your kid picks a story. Short stories at easy, medium, hard. They choose what to read.

They read it out loud. Yomi listens to every word. If they get stuck, they can tap the word to hear it.

Yomi gets fed. Every word out loud feeds Yomi a little. Tomorrow Yomi will be hungry again.

Stories

Real stories at three reading levels.

Make stories

Pick a name, a character, a place, and what happens. Yomi writes the rest, your kid reads it back.

A few things you won't
find in Yomi

We built Yomi for small kids, so we kept it small.

Nostreaks or fire emojis.

Yomi will be a little sad if your kid skips a day, but no one is going to lose a 14-day streak at bedtime.

Noads

Nothing trying to sell your kid something while they read.

Noreplacing teachers

Yomi is not going to teach your kid to read. Yomi gives them a reason to practice the reading they're already learning.

Questions parents ask

What age is Yomi for?

Yomi is your child's virtual reading companion that grows and evolves through reading activities. Think Tamagotchi meets reading tutor — the more your child reads, the more Yomi thrives!

What happens if my kid gets a word wrong?

Nothing dramatic. Yomi keeps going. Your kid can tap the word to hear it. There are no red marks.

What stories does Yomi have?

Real short stories at three reading levels. Your kid can also make their own through a simple wizard and read those back.

Is it safe for kids?

No ads, no accounts, no chat with strangers, no data sold. Just one cat, your kid, and stories.

What languages?

English and Finnish right now. More on the way.

Kids who read out loud, even a little, end up reading more.

Yomi won't fix every reading struggle. But a kid who reads to a cat for a few minutes a day will read more than a kid who doesn't.
